FIELD: woodworking industry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the woodworking industry, in particular to the production of transparent wood. Transparent wood contains wood substrate and at least one polymer. Transparent wood has optical transmittance of at least 60% at a wavelength in the electromagnetic spectrum in the range from 400 to 1000 nm. Wood substrate contains more than 15% of lignin, measured as Klasson lignin. Bleaching liquid is added to wood substrate in order to inactivate chromophores in wood substrate. Bleached wood substrate is impregnated with a solution containing prepolymers or monomers or combinations thereof. Polymerization of impregnating prepolymers or monomers or combinations thereof is performed to obtain transparent wood.
EFFECT: transmittance and environmental safety of the production of transparent wood are increased.
