SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for obtaining an aqueous binder composition, an aqueous binder composition and an aqueous coating composition. This method contains following stages: providing the first alkyd in the form of homogeneous liquid; providing an aqueous dispersion of the second alkyd; emulsifying the first alkyd by adding it to the aqueous dispersion of the second alkyd or by adding the aqueous dispersion of the second alkyd to the first alkyd; mixing to obtain an aqueous binder composition. Homogeneous liquid contains at least 90 wt.% of the dissolved or molten first alkyd by the total mass of homogeneous liquid and has viscosity in the range from 1.0 to 3.5 Pa·s. The aqueous binder composition contains the emulsified first alkyd and the dispersed second alkyd in a single aqueous phase. The first alkyd is emulsified into droplets having an average volume diameter in the range from 1 to 20 mcm. The dispersed second alkyd has an average volume diameter in the range from 50 to 500 nm.

EFFECT: technical result is the creation of aqueous binder compositions with high content of binder polymer, which are stable and have low viscosity and which, when used in aqueous coating compositions, form aqueous coating compositions with relatively high content of binder polymer, allowing one to obtain dried coatings with good appearance properties, such as gloss and image clarity, as well as with good weather resistance, including after applying a limited number of coating layers.
