FIELD: material engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for the manufacture of topcoat compositions, primers or stains. The composition of the coating “water in oil” contains an aqueous phase emulsified in a non-aqueous liquid phase, including a self-oxidizing binder. The solids content in the composition is from 15 to 45 wt. %, the water content is from 40 to 60 wt. %, by total weight of the composition. The solid content in the composition (SC), the water content in the composition (WC) and the average mass molecular weight (Mw) of the self-oxidizing binder are selected in such a way that the value of parameter A is from 70 to 120. A is defined as: A = [(Mw/1400) + (1.7 x SC) + WC], where Mw is expressed in g/mol, and SC and WC are expressed in wt. %. A substrate with a coating deposited from the composition is also proposed.
EFFECT: increase in the water content in the composition of the coating “water in oil” while maintaining the quality of the final coating.
