SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology. The invention is a laboratory express method that makes it possible to differentiate varieties of winter cereals by resistance to the pathogen of pink snow mold (the pathogen is the fungus Microdochium nivale (Fr.)Samuels&C. I. Hallet), where fragments of winter grain leaf blades cut from the middle part of the plant leaf with a size of 0.07-0.08 m of the same width are placed equidistant in a Petri dish on filter paper moistened with distilled water, then 2 drops of Microdochium nivale (Fr.) Samuels&C. I. Hallet fungus spore suspension of the same concentration with a known high level of pathogenicity are applied equidistant to the leaf plates of plants, then on the 2nd - 3rd days, the area of the lesion of the leaf blade of the plant and the reaction of the variety to the specified pathogen are noted, while the varieties are considered highly resistant, the area of the lesion of which was 5% of the area of the fragment of the leaf blade, the infected part of the leaf remains light green; medium-resistant with the area of the lesion is 15-25%, the infected part of the leaf becomes light yellow; susceptible with the affected part of the leaf is 25-50% and becoming from light to dark brown; plants are considered highly susceptible if the area of the leaf blade is more than 50%, the leaves are dark brown, with elements of necrotic decomposition.
EFFECT: proposed laboratory express method makes it possible to differentiate varieties of winter cereals by resistance to the pink snow mold pathogen of genotypes resistant to the pink snow mold pathogen.
