SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of transport engineering. The cross member for the car bumper bar contains an external beam, a reinforcing member and a cover plate. The outer beam extends in a transverse direction with the main part of the beam containing the upper beam web, the lower beam web and the front beam web. The reinforcing element defines a reinforced area located within a portion of the internal volume of the beam. The cover plate covers at least part of the internal volume of the beam. The cross-section of the reinforcing element has a shape that does not mate with the shape of the outer beam in the reinforced region. The reinforcing element comprises an upper reinforcing wall associated with the first intermediate reinforcing wall of the upper connecting wall. The first intermediate reinforcing wall is connected to the second intermediate reinforcing wall of the central connecting wall. The second intermediate reinforcing wall is connected to the lower reinforcing wall by the lower connecting wall.
EFFECT: improved absorption of impact energy.
