FIELD: transport engineering.
SUBSTANCE: transverse element for the bumper bar of a motor vehicle comprises an external beam and an internal reinforcing element. The outer beam extends in the transverse direction and has the main part of the beam, including the upper, lower and frontal walls of the beam, the upper and lower shelves of the beam extending along the rear end of the upper wall of the beam and the rear end of the lower wall of the beam in the transverse direction. The upper, lower and frontal walls of the beam together form an internal cavity. The internal reinforcing element extends along the inner cavity of the beam and comprises two stiffeners protruding forward to the frontal wall of the beam and interconnected by the rear ends thereof by means of upper and lower transverse rails. The upper and lower transverse rails are attached to the upper and lower shelves and to the outer beam. The length of the upper transverse rail is less than the length of the upper wall of the beam. The length of the lower transverse rail is less than the length of the lower wall of the beam. The lengths are measured in the longitudinal direction.
EFFECT: impact energy absorption is improved.
