SUBSTANCE: toaster has a sidewall with a reflective surface for reflecting heat radiation in the direction of a roasting chamber and an external surface to which a sensor unit is attached. The sensor unit creates an outgoing beam to illuminate a part of a product and receives a reflected beam, which is received by a sensor, while the sensor provides a signal characterizing the property of the reflected beam and, consequently, the chromatic property of the product.
