FIELD: instrumentation; biometric identification.

SUBSTANCE: system has a light source, an element setting the position of the papillary picture read-out surface, an optical system and a multi-element image receiver, and is characterised by the fact that the light source and the read-out surface are connected optically to the image receiver by means of beams originating from the light source in the direction of the papillary picture read-out surface reflected from this read-out surface and passing to the radiation receiver through a guide optical element, having an entrance refracting and reflecting surfaces, by successive refraction on the inlet refracting surface, reflection on the reflecting surface and total internal reflection on the inlet refracting surface.

EFFECT: reduced overall dimensions, higher reliability, high image quality, high operating speed and lower power consumption of the papillary picture recording system.
