FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing linear alpha-olefins C5-C16 by radiation-thermal cracking. The method consists in acting with an electron beam with energy of 2.5-3 MeV, using an irradiation dose rate of 0.1-8 kGy/s, on a vapor-gas mixture of hydrocarbons consisting of low-boiling fractions of paraffin raw materials and products of its liquid-phase thermal cracking, formed above the surface of raw materials during boiling at a temperature of 395-430°C with obtaining a mixture of alpha-olefins and alkanes and containing no isomerization and polymerization products.
EFFECT: increase in the yield of linear alpha-olefins C5-C16 due to an increase in the depth of transformation during thermal cracking of slack and petroleum paraffin by additional exposure to an electron beam with energy of about 3 MeV on a vapor-gas mixture formed above the surface of raw materials during the boiling of raw materials.
