FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention may be used in production of electrodes. Proposed process comprises heating of coal-tar pitch to over 150°C. Produced flow of liquid coal-tar pitch is subjected to irradiation with electron beam with radiation dose of 10-150 kGy.

EFFECT: increased content of α-fraction in pitch by 6-12%, higher amount of coke residue by 6-10%, higher density and longer life of graphite electrodes.
