FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing olefins via thermal treatment of liquid or gaseous hydrocarbon material which is in form of a linear saturated hydrocarbon CnH2n+2, where: n>1, or a mixture of such hydrocarbons taken in any combinations. The method is characterised by volumetric heating of the mixture of catalyst and raw material is done selectively in the presence of a granular solid catalyst, specifically: heat required for the reaction is mainly supplied to the catalyst, in the volume the particles of which energy is released as heat. The source of energy used is microwave radiation and the catalyst is material which has greater capacity of absorbing microwave radiation than the hydrocarbon material.
EFFECT: proposed method increases efficiency of formation of alpha-olefins using high-frequency radiation.
