FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering, namely to an electric heating unit of an aerosol-generating apparatus for resistive heating of an aerosol-forming substrate. The heating unit comprises a control circuit configured to supply an alternating excitation current. The heating unit additionally comprises an electrically resistive heating element containing an electrically conductive ferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic material for heating the aerosol-forming substrate and is functionally connected with the control circuit. The alternating excitation current is passed through the heating element by means of the current of the control circuit. The invention additionally relates to an aerosol-generating apparatus for use with the aerosol-forming substrate, wherein the aerosol-generating apparatus comprises a heating unit according to the present invention.

EFFECT: increase in the reliability and efficiency of resistive heating of an aerosol-forming substrate without the risk of unwanted overheating.
