FIELD: aerosol generation system.

SUBSTANCE: aerosol generating system comprises an aerosol-generating product and an aerosol generating device. The aerosol-generating product has an upstream end and a downstream end. The aerosol-generating product defines a longitudinal direction between an upstream end and a downstream end. An aerosol-generating product comprises: an upstream segment located at an upstream end of the aerosol generating article, wherein the upstream segment comprises an aerosol-generating substrate, wherein the aerosol-generating substrate comprises an outer surface a substrate having an outer diameter of the substrate; and a downstream segment located at the downstream end of the aerosol generating article, wherein the downstream segment has an outer diameter of the downstream segment, wherein the outer diameter of the downstream segment is larger, than the outer diameter of the substrate. An aerosol-generating device comprises: a device cavity comprising an inner surface of the device cavity having an internal diameter of the device cavity, wherein the device cavity is configured to accommodate at least an aerosol-generating substrate and an aerosol-generating product. At least one heating element configured to heat the aerosol-generating substrate when the aerosol-generating substrate is received within the cavity of the device. When the aerosol-generating substrate of the aerosol-generating product is placed in the device cavity, a passage for air flow is defined between the outer surface of the substrate and the inner surface of the device cavity. The air flow passage extends longitudinally along the length of the aerosol-generating substrate.

EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of generating an aerosol from an aerosol-generating product.
