SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a device and an article which generate an aerosol, as well as to a system which contains them. Aerosol generating device comprises receiving sleeve, which comprises an inner receiving area located inside a receiving sleeve, designed to receive at least a first aerosol-forming substrate, and an outer receiving zone extending through at least a portion of the outer peripheral periphery of the receiving sleeve for receiving at least a second aerosol-forming substrate. Device further comprises an electrical heater for heating at least a first aerosol-forming substrate or a second aerosol-forming substrate, when they are placed in the first and second zones for placement, respectively. Possibility of selective use of only one of the two aerosol-forming substrates is provided, since the first and second aerosol-forming substrates are physically separated.
