FIELD: biotechnology; medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to biotechnology and medicine, in particular to compositions of a new highly glycosylated human-like form of lubricin. Recombinant glycoprotein of lubricin is expressed from a human gene PRG4 in the culture of a host cell, where obtained lubricin contains at least 30 wt.% of glycoside residues, wherein at least 99 wt.% of glycosylation is glycosylation of a core 1. In another embodiment, obtained lubricin contains at least 40 wt.% of glycoside residues, where at least 90 wt.% of glycosylation is glycosylation of a core 1. Obtained lubricin demonstrates, when tested, outstanding lubricating properties leading to friction coefficients in the range of 150%, 120%, 110% or essentially equal friction coefficients of purified natural bovine lubricin, measured by testing cartilage lubrication on cartilage.
EFFECT: compositions based on the specified lubricin are suitable for lubrication of tissues, prevention of formation of adhesions or fibrous connective tissue and prevention of intercellular adhesion or mobility within the vascular network.
