FIELD: railway transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to apparatuses for preventing slipping of wheelsets of a locomotive. The apparatus for detecting the beginning of the process of slipping of wheelsets of a locomotive comprises axle rotation speed sensors, comparison units, lasers, optical systems, video cameras, digital signal processors, an averaging filter, a time sensor, logic elements "OR", current adjusters, current collecting apparatuses of the wheelsets, and a power source. The optical systems therein project images of the laser-illuminated sections of the rail onto the video cameras connected with the digital signal processors, connected whereto is the time sensor. The outputs of the digital signal processors are connected with the averaging filter connected with the comparison units, connected whereto are the axle rotation speed sensors. The comparison units are connected to the logic elements "OR", connected to the current adjusters passing a current from the power source through the current collecting apparatuses of the wheelsets of the locomotive bogies.
EFFECT: detection of the beginning of the process of slipping of the wheelsets of locomotives working with trains from cars, the axles of the wheelsets whereof which are not equipped with rotation speed sensors.
