METHOD FOR DETERMINING AZIMUTH USING ANGULAR VELOCITY SENSOR Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC G01C19/38

Abstract RU 2759502 C1

FIELD: geodesy; navigation; topography.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of determining the azimuth of a given direction and can be used in analytical type gyrocompasses when solving problems of geodesy, navigation, topography, aiming and guidance. The method for determining the azimuth using an angular velocity sensor (AVS) consists in the preliminary exposure of the AVS sensitivity axis to the vertical, followed by setting the sensitivity axis by turning from the vertical to four positions located in two vertical orthogonal planes and having the same nonzero acute angle ε with the vertical, reading in each of the four positions of the AVS indications and the calculation of the indicated azimuth indications of the direction of the first position of the sensitivity axis. At the same time, a navigation device is additionally used, with the help of which the latitude ϕ of the position of the AVS is determined, the angle of rotation ε is set from the condition of ensuring the required root-mean-square error (RMSE) for determining the azimuth at a known latitude ϕ and a given RMSE for measuring the angular velocity of the control system, while the angle is calculated by the formula

where σΔAreq is the required RMSE for determining the azimuth, σΔwspec is the RMSE specified for measuring the angular velocity of the AVS, ωe is the angular velocity of the Earth's rotation.

EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of determining the azimuth.
