FIELD: direction finding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of precision instrumentation and can be used in creation of analytical-type gyro compasses. The proposed invention is aimed at solving the problem of increasing the accuracy of determining the direction of the local meridian using an angular velocity sensor (AVS) of any type by means of discrete rotation of the AVS sensitivity axis at a given angle in the direction of the plane of the local meridian, low-frequency filtration of the AVS output signal in each position of the AVS sensitivity axis and subtraction of signals received in adjacent angular positions, followed by dividing the difference by a known constant factor, applying the arcsine operation to the obtained quotient and adding the result to a known constant. The disclosed problem arises during development of analytical-type gyro compasses for navigation systems and systems of initial orientation of navigation and measuring complexes.
EFFECT: increased performance time for determination of the direction of the local meridian using an AVS.
