SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of precision instrumentation and can be used in the development of analytical-type gyrocompasses. Method of gyrocompassing using angular velocity sensor consists in that after initial exposure of angular velocity sensor sensitivity axis to plane of local horizon there performed is sequential discrete rotation of axis of sensitivity of angular velocity sensor to given angles, followed by pairwise subtraction of signals obtained in adjacent angular positions of the angular velocity sensor sensitivity axis, after calculation of which the obtained adjacent differences are determined, as well as accurate relationships of adjacent accurate differences, from the array of which by selection by selection (n-2) successive values of exact ratios, maximally matching by a given criterion of coincidence with a number of corresponding (n-2) values of ratios of signal differences obtained in adjacent angular positions of the axis of sensitivity of the angular velocity sensor, which are used when determining angle relative to plane of local meridian.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of local meridian direction determining accuracy.
