FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to options of a method for preparing glycolic aldehyde, including a stage of thermolytic fragmentation of salt-depleted crude carbohydrate feedstock, and to a system for their implementation. One of options of the method includes a stage of thermolytic fragmentation of salt-depleted crude carbohydrate feedstock containing at least 20% by wt. of monosaccharides selected from a group including glucose, galactose, tagatose, mannose, fructose, xylose, arabinose, ribose or mixtures thereof, and less than 200 ppm of salts, while salt-depleted carbohydrate feedstock contains one or several impurities selected from a group of arsenic, lead, sulfate, sulfur dioxide and 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural.
EFFECT: proposed group of inventions makes it possible to obtain a target product with high yield in a more energy-efficient and less expensive way.
