SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture and concerns a method for controlling insect pests. The method for combating infection with adult insect pests in a place of growth provides for the application of a composition containing acetamiprid and bifenthrin in the place of growth. As an option, a method for combating infection with an adult cotton weevil in the place of growth is proposed, which provides for the application of a composition containing acetamiprid and bifenthrin in the place of growth. At the same time, the control of adult insect pests, including the adult cotton weevil, exceeds the control of young individuals by at least 5% in efficiency.
