FIELD: image data processing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to digital image processing, more specifically, to creation of panoramic images from a series of images obtained using a mobile apparatus. In the preferred variant of implementation, a computer-implemented method for creating a panoramic image from a series of sequential images is claimed, executed by a processor and containing the stages of: obtaining a consecutive set of images, determining the adjusted camera viewing angle, projecting the obtained set of images onto an equidistant panorama representation, determining all pairs of overlapping projected images, obtaining a border image for each image, recurrently matching the overlapping projected images, based on the calculation of the shift function for said images, shifting all image projections based on the calculated resulting shift vector, and stitching the shifted image projections into a panoramic image.

EFFECT: increase in the quality of the created panoramic image obtained from a series of consecutive images.
