SUBSTANCE: invention relates to adaptive streaming of multimedia content of virtual reality over the Internet using the protocol http. Disclosed is a streaming transmission of multimedia data representing a projection capturing of a wide view of the scene, wherein streaming multimedia data enable to render a wide view on 3D display geometric surface or to render a wide view on the display surface according to different viewpoints, wherein renderer comprises a multimedia data rendering projection. Having received the description file, including information on multimedia data, which contains descriptive information relating to the wide view capturing for creation of multimedia data, wherein request messages for requesting multimedia data streams are sent to a server based on the description file. In response to the request messages, multimedia data corresponding to the requested multimedia data streams are received.

EFFECT: optimizing transmission of virtual reality multimedia data, since only required multimedia data, the quality of which corresponds to the characteristics of requesting clients, is transmitted, high quality, since high-resolution images can be processed, and maintaining scalability on the server side, since control is performed by clients.
