FIELD: material modification.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and systems for generating images in coherent radiation and controlling with feedback for modifying materials; it can be used in material modification processes, such as laser surgery, sintering and welding. A beam source for processing material issues a beam for processing material that is supplied to a place of material location during material modification surface. An optical source for generating images issues light radiation for generating an image. An optical interferometer issues an interferometry output signal using at least a component of light radiation for generating an image that is supplied to a sample. An interferometry input signal is based on a comparison of at least one length of an optical path to the sample and another length of the optical path. A controller with feedback controls at least one processing parameter of the material modification process based on the interferometry output signal. The material modification process is selected from sintering, welding and soldering or a combination thereof. The method includes processing interferograms based on homodyne filtration, generating a record of the material modification process using the interferometry output signal.
EFFECT: high quality of material modification is provided due to an increase in the accuracy of process control.
