FIELD: textiles.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a new binding system and to an application thereof for binding textile materials, as well as to products containing such bound textile materials. A reinforcing insert containing: a) 1 to 20 wt.% of polymers based on polyvinyl alcohol, b) ≥80 wt.% of natural starch(es), c) 0 to 10 wt.% of a cross-linking agent and a cross-linking catalyst, d) 0 to 10 wt.% fillers, e) 0 to 10 wt.% of additives, f) non-woven spunbond material based on ester fibres, containing ≥95 mol% of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fibres with a titer of 2 to 8 dtex and a surface density of 40 to 250 g/m². The reinforcing insert has a specific reference force M (N/5 cm/ surface density in g/m²) within the range of 0.2 to 0.8 N·m²/g·cm. The invention also relates to a bituminised roofing membrane containing the described reinforcing insert immersed in a bitumen matrix, wherein the content of the bitumen mass relative to the general mass of the bituminised roofing membrane is from 60 to 97 wt.% and the content of the spun non-woven material is from 3 to 40 wt.%.
