FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely ophthalmology. Before the operation, the povidone-iodine solution is administered to the patient by double irrigation of the mucous membrane of each half of the nasal cavity using a dosed spray bottle. First, irrigation is carried out outside the operating room with an interval of 5 minutes with a solution containing a 1% solution of povidone-iodine in an aqueous 0.05% solution of oxymetazoline in a ratio of 1:3, 270 µl. Then irrigation is carried out in the operating room with 0.5% povidone-iodine solution, 450 µl and the conjunctival sac of each eye is washed with 5% povidone-iodine solution, 3 ml.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to effectively treat of the operating field, requires a long wait for the action of the antiseptic in the operating room with the exception of contamination of the operating room space during the operation.
