SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biochemistry, in particular to an expression cassette for the expression of polypeptide toxic to insects of the Diabrotica species. An expression vector and a transgenic maize plant containing the specified expression cassette, a host cell containing the specified vector are also disclosed. A method for controlling the pest population of the Diabrotica species using the specified polypeptide is disclosed.
EFFECT: invention has the capability of effective controlling the pest population of the Diabrotica species.
