FIELD: smoking devices.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the tobacco industry, namely, to a filter for a smoking article and to a smoking article containing a filter. The filter for a smoking article or an aerosol-generating article comprises first and second filtering sections. The second filtering section is located downstream from the first filtering section. The first filtering section comprises a filtering material and at least two capsules containing an additive and located in the axial area near the longitudinal axis of the filter consecutively along this axis at a distance from each other. The second filtering section comprises at least one channel located in the axial area of the second filtering section near the longitudinal axis of the filter to facilitate drawing of an aerosol through the axial area of the first filtering section wherein the capsules are located. The filtering material of the first filtering section has a circumference from 16 to 19 mm, fibres thereof have a denier per fibre value from 4.5 to 8 dpf, and the total denier value is from 15,000 to 25,000, or the filtering material of the first filtering section has a circumference from 20 to 22 mm, fibres thereof have a denier per fibre value from 4.0 to 5.0 dpf, and the total denier value is from 30,000 to 35,000, or the filtering material of the first filtering section has a circumference from 23 to 25 mm, fibres thereof have a denier value from 3.0 to 5.0 dpf, and the total denier value is from 35,000 to 40,000. Also disclosed is a smoking article containing the claimed filter.

EFFECT: ensured acceptable level of resin delivery and increase in the reliability of production of the filter due to the elimination of the possibility of destroying the capsules in the process of embedding the capsules in the filtering material.
