SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the tobacco industry, namely to an electronic aerosol-providing system. An apparatus for controlling an electronic aerosol-providing system, configured to receive a replaceable component to form an electronic aerosol-providing system and including a communication interface for communication external relative to the electronic aerosol-providing system. The apparatus comprises a memory configured to store a set of identifiers. The control apparatus includes a control system configured to receive control information from a remote server via a communication interface; update the set of saved identifiers based on the control information received from the remote server, receive an identifier from a replaceable component inserted into the control apparatus, compare the received identifier with the set of saved identifiers, perform a control action with respect to the electronic aerosol-providing system depending on the result of said comparison. Updating the set of saved identifiers based on control information includes adding one or several identifiers to the set of saved identifiers, or removing one or several identifiers from the set of saved identifiers, or modifying one or several identifiers in the set of saved identifiers. Disclosed in the invention is an electronic aerosol-providing system, a method for operation of an apparatus for controlling an electronic aerosol-providing system, and a server for transmitting control information to control apparatuses.

EFFECT: optimisation of control actions in accordance with the properties of the identifying replaceable component with simultaneous monitoring of the authenticity of the replaceable aerosol-providing component.
