FIELD: fiber-optic technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fiber-optic technology, in particular to the installation of optical cable couplings, and is intended to test the protection of optical cable connections from squeezing optical fibers from modular tubes into the coupling. Essence: the length of the connected optical cables is chosen in the range from 5 to 6 meters. Optical cables in a coupling are connected with the protection unit of optical cable connections from squeezing optical fibers from modular tubes into the coupling. The losses in optical fibers in the coupling are measured. At the end of the optical cable, a compressor is connected to the modular tube and an increased pressure is created in it for a specified time interval, after which the losses in the optical fibers in the coupling are measured again and it is assumed that the protection unit has been tested if the changes in losses in the optical fibers in the coupling have not exceeded the specified threshold value.
EFFECT: ensuring a significant reduction in energy consumption during the testing process.
