SOFT-LANDING CYLINDER Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC E21B19/09 F16F9/24

Abstract RU 2762651 C1

FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a soft-landing cylinder for absorbing shock loads during installation of subsea production system equipment on the seabed. The soft-fit cylinder contains a cover with holes, a cylinder, a flange that together make up the body, and a piston moving in the body, a flexible metal element located inside the body and providing permanent electrical contact between the cap and the piston. Holes are made in the cylinder of the body with the possibility of passing sea water and damping the energy of impact on the bottom when the soft-landing cylinder is lowered to the seabed. The body is made with the possibility of attachment with the lowered equipment, and the piston is made with the possibility of contact with the seabed. In the cover on the side of the inner cavity of the cylinder, at least one annular groove is made, into which holes in the cover open, forming at least one cylindrical neck on the cover, along which the washer can move, the surface of which, when the piston moves up, occupies the extreme upper position, pressing against the counter surface of the cover, and blocks the access of water through the holes into the inner cavity of the cylinder, and when the piston moves down, it occupies the extreme lower position, opening the access of water to the inner cavity of the cylinder.

EFFECT: ability to quickly fill the inner space of the soft-landing cylinder when lowering it to the seabed with effective damping of the shock load when the device hits the bottom, providing constant electrical contact between the piston and the cover.
