SUBSTANCE: technical result is achieved due to the fact that at least one video camera on the outside of the shield records video and continuously transmits the image to a data processing apparatus, the data processing apparatus and the software operating thereon transmits the video image frame-by-frame to an artificial intelligence application, the artificial intelligence application processes each frame using image recognition algorithms, detects the welding arc if present, modifies the resulting image, puts an illuminated spot comfortable for the eye in place of the welding arc, while applying digital light filters and additional dimming of the excessively illuminated area around the welding arc to the level of average illumination in the field of view, comfortable for the eyes of the welder.

EFFECT: improved labour conditions when performing welding work consisting in dimming the welding arc and the excessively illuminated area around the welding arc in the welding shield to the level of average illumination in the field of view of the welder.
