FIELD: veterinary medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to veterinary medicine, namely, to therapy of internal diseases of animals, and can be used for treating dogs with mitral valve insufficiency. The method for treating dogs with dilated cardiomyopathy complicated by congestive cardiac failure consists in prescribing pimobendan at a dose of 0.25 mg/kg 2 times per day orally during life, telmisartan at a dose of 0.5 mg/kg, increased to 1 mg/kg after 14 days, 1 time per day orally during life, furosemide at a dose of 3 mg/kg intravenously 2 times per day until the symptoms of congestive cardiac failure reduced, followed by transferring to the oral form of the product and reducing the dose under control of the respiratory frequency during sleep less than 30 min-1 during life, spironolactone at a dose of 2 mg/kg 2 times per day orally during life.
EFFECT: invention provides a reduction in the risk of pulmonary edema and sudden cardiac death, thereby significantly prolonging the life expectancy of sick animals.
