SUBSTANCE: invention relates to veterinary medicine, in particular to a method for predicting the lethal outcome in dogs with mitral valve endocardiosis. The method is characterized by determining the presence or absence of pulmonary edema, evaluating the functional class of heart failure, and also determining the sex of the animal. The probability of a fatal outcome within 12 months (y) is calculated by the formula:

2.43 is a free coefficient, 3.42; 1.49; 0.56 - regression coefficients, PE - pulmonary edema, and PE takes a value equal to 1 if edema is present, and 0 - if absent, S is the sex of the sick animal, and S takes a value equal to 1 for males, and a value of 0 for females, FC is a functional class of heart failure expressed in conventional units, with a value of y≥0.5, a high risk of death within 12 months is predicted.

EFFECT: use of the invention will make it possible to predict the probability of a lethal outcome in dogs within a year.
