SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry and can be used in the food, chemical and pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. The method for quantitative estimation of the amount of carotenoids in Chinese boxthorn fruits includes the extraction of carotenoids from 5 g of a precise sample, ground to 0.5 mm particles, of boxthorn fruits by hexane by the direct spectrophotometry method, wherein the extraction of raw materials is executed once, hexane is used as an extraction agent at the "raw material-extraction agent" ratio of 1:5, quantitative estimation of the amount of carotenoids in Chinese boxthorn fruits is conducted at a wavelength of 450±2 nm.

EFFECT: creation of a specific and selective method for quantitative estimation of the amount of carotenoids in the boxthorn fruits in terms of β-carotene.
