SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the pharmaceutical industry, and in particular to a method for quantitative determination of the amount of saponins in Gynostemma pentaphyllum, including water-alcohol extraction of crushed vegetable raw materials with 70% ethyl alcohol for 90 minutes, interaction with sulfuric acid in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes, measurement of optical density and calculation of the content of the sum of saponins. According to the invention, the extraction of Gynostemma pentaphyllum, crushed to a particle size of 3.0 mm, is carried out at a ratio of a sample of raw materials and an extractant volume of 1:200, concentrated sulfuric acid is added to the extraction in a ratio of 1:5, after which the optical density of the solution is measured at a wavelength of 322±2 nm, and the content of the sum of saponins in Gynostemma pentaphyllum is calculated in terms of β-escin in percent X according to the formula:

EFFECT: improving the accuracy of the quantitative determination of the amount of saponins in Gynostemma pentaphyllum in terms of β-escin.
