SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering, in particular to networks using a backplane. The result is achieved by the fact that the backplane or backplane module for transmitting data along the signal path of the network to one or more functional modules connected to the signal path includes a printed circuit board, an electrical connector of the functional module connected to the printed circuit board, and a mechanical bypass circuit node that maintains continuity of signals along the signal path when the functional module is not connected to the electrical connector of the functional module.
