SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, namely to cardiology and endocrinology. The method for evaluating oxidative stress in metabolic syndrome includes determining the activity of antiradical protection enzymes and the intensity of free radical oxidation. The level of concentration of the active products of thiobarbituric acid (TBA-AP) is determined in nM*MDA/ml, the level of ceruloplasmin (CP) is determined in mg/ml, and the catalase activity (CA) is determined in mcM*l/s. The lipid peroxidation coefficient (LPOc) is then determined as the ratio of CA to TBA-AP. Then the coefficient of antioxidant activity (AOc) is calculated as the ratio of the content of CP to CA. If the value of the LPOc coefficient equals 3 c.u. and the value of the AOc coefficient equals 2.5 c.u., the balance between free radicals and antioxidants is diagnosed. If the value of the LPOc coefficient is less than 3 c.u. and the value of the AOc coefficient is less than 2.5 c.u., an enhancement in the free radical damage and a lack of antioxidants are diagnosed. If the value of the AOc coefficient is increased by more than 2.5 c.u. and the value of the LPOc coefficient is greater than 3 c.u., an adequate reaction of the antioxidant system to free radical damage is determined.

EFFECT: invention allows for express evaluation of oxidative stress, increases the information content and accuracy of diagnostics, provides a possibility of monitoring the antioxidant therapy.
