FIELD: road construction.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the construction and repair of asphalt concrete pavements of highways, sidewalks, airfields and sites for various purposes, namely, to a method for forming a reinforcing layer of asphalt concrete pavement with a metal mesh. In accordance with the method, an underlying pavement layer is cleaned of dirt and, depending on the actual condition, it is repaired and leveled. Then, the mesh is placed in a design position and rolled with a pneumatic roller for leveling. After that, initial and final sections of each mesh roll are fixed to the underlying pavement layer, and a cast emulsion-mineral mixture (CEMM) is applied to the mesh until the mesh is completely immersed in the mixture. After that, the mixture is kept until it hardens and the formed reinforcing layer is ready for laying asphalt concrete on it. As a metal mesh, a mesh is used, a web of which is made of longitudinal wires that are twisted together in pairs, forming hexagonal mesh cells, in which twists are sides. Mesh cells are combined with transverse reinforcing elements that are evenly placed in the mesh web along its length and that have a rectangular cross-section with rounded edges. These elements consist of consecutive zones, in which each of two consecutive zones is rotated by an angle of 90° relatively to the previous one. Horizontal zones of reinforcing elements of the mesh are made of shorter length compared to the vertical ones. Reinforcing elements themselves are placed in twists of mesh cells between wires, so that horizontal zones of elements are pinched inside twists, and their vertical zones at the same time occupy the entire width of mesh cells between twists.

EFFECT: created layer adheres to the underlying pavement layer and to asphalt concrete, practically prevents its transverse and longitudinal shear deformations and prevents the formation of cracks and ruts in asphalt concrete pavement.
