FIELD: road building.
SUBSTANCE: metal mesh is intended for reinforcement of an asphalt concrete surface of automotive roads, pavements, airfields, and plots for various purposes. The mesh with hexagonal cells is woven from longitudinal, generally steel, wires with an anti-corrosion coating and is equipped with transverse reinforcing elements placed in the twists of the mesh at equal intervals along the length thereof. Said elements have a rectangular cross-section with rounded edges and consist of consecutive areas, wherein each of the two consecutive areas is rotated around the axis thereof at an angle of 90° relative to the preceding area. The horizontal areas of the transverse elements are therein made of a smaller length compared to the vertical ones. The transverse reinforcing elements themselves are placed in the twists of the cells of the mesh so that the horizontal areas of reinforcing elements are pinched inside the twists between the wires, and the vertical areas thereof occupy the entire width of the cells of the mesh between the twists.
EFFECT: mesh engages reliably with the asphalt concrete surface, prevents transverse and longitudinal shear deformations thereof, and prevents formation of cracks and splits in the surface.
