FIELD: powder metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, in particular to the manufacture of products from a reactive powder material. It can be used to obtain materials with radiation-shielding or neutron-shielding properties. To obtain pressed parts, powdered lithium hydride of natural isotopic composition is used as a reactive material. Shaping of parts of a given profile is carried out by pressing at a specific load of at least 3 t/cm2 at room temperature. The parts are placed in a sealed container evacuated to 140-170 Pa and heat treatment is carried out by raising the temperature to 500-600°C at a heating rate of no more than 10°C/min. The heat treatment process is carried out for 1-5 hours, followed by cooling and holding in the container for at least 3 hours, while maintaining a predetermined degree of vacuum in a sealed container within 140-170 Pa.

EFFECT: improvement of operational characteristics, namely mechanical strength in compression, stabilization of the chemical composition, as well as provision of conditions for increasing the adhesion of the protective coating applied to the parts before operation under the influence of aggressive environmental factors.
