The claimed method for testing a laser ballistic measuring system in order to verify the accuracy of measuring the velocity of an artillery projectile includes creating a full-scale environment, emitting electromagnetic power in the direction of the projectile, receiving the electromagnetic power reflected from the projectile, converting an analogue signal into a digital form, performing a fast Fourier transform of the signal and recording said signal into a memory unit, finding the frequencies corresponding to the maxima of the first paired harmonics of secondary modulation of the Doppler echo signal determining the angular speed of rotation of the projectile. Emission of a single frequency laser is therein directed at the longitudinally fixed projectile, wherein the laser emission is modulated by fixed frequencies over time intervals, wherein each corresponds to the Doppler frequency shift for the simulated projectile velocity Vis set at this time interval, and the laser Doppler ballistic measuring system receives the emission reflected from the projectile, and based on the frequencies of Doppler signals received at each time interval, the system calculates the simulated velocity ΔVi=Vis-Viu at different time intervals, wherein λ0 is the wavelength of the single frequency laser.

EFFECT: possibility of determining the error of measuring the velocity of the projectile at various linear velocities along the longitudinal axis thereof.
