SUBSTANCE: invention relates to determination of data transmission mode along a direct communication line. For this purpose, the first terminal sends to the network device a first message containing group identification information about a group of terminals to which the first terminal belongs, or identification information about a second terminal, wherein the second terminal is a terminal which performs unicast communication with the first terminal. First terminal receives the first configuration information transmitted by the network device, wherein the first configuration information is used to indicate the first transmission mode. First transmission mode is determined from a plurality of transmission modes based on the first configuration information. First configuration information includes: unicast type information, multicast or broadcast, quality attribute information and class of provided data services (QoS) and group identification information on a group of terminals, which includes the first terminal.
