The effect is achieved by the fact that the device for protecting the armature winding of AC machines from short circuits contains the main winding, an additional winding laid in the grooves with the main armature winding, a device for measuring a physical quantity connected to the additional winding, and the output of the measuring device is connected to the input of the comparison device, the output the comparison device is connected to the input of the protective device, while the output of the protective device is connected to the phases of the main armature winding, according to the invention, the additional winding is made similar to the main armature winding circuit.

EFFECT: simplifying the design of the additional winding, simplifying the determination of its parameters by the cross section and the number of turns, expanding the scope of application due to the versatility of the additional winding, increasing the reliability of protection due to a simpler setting of the threshold value.
