FIELD: nuclear safety.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for ensuring nuclear safety of a high-temperature fast reactor and can be used in nuclear reactors, in particular with spherical microfuel. The method includes full loading of the metal core of the core with fuel assemblies containing a neutron absorber, thorium and nuclear fuel made of uranium-235 oxide in the form of micro-fuel elements, as well as absorbing rods made of boron carbide. Wherein a neutron absorber, which is liquid cadmium enriched by at least 90% in the 113Cd isotope, is introduced into the gaps between the microfuel. A thin 2-6 mm solid boron carbide layer is deposited on the outer surface of the metal body of the nuclear reactor core.
EFFECT: improving the safety of the reactor during transportation, as well as the possibility of reducing the number of control elements, control and safety control (CSC) units and reducing the mass of the required enriched fuel to ensure criticality under normal conditions at high temperatures in the core.
