SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparing a modified adsorbent based on active clay for the purification of benzene and benzene fraction from sulfur and unsaturated compounds, which is a method for sequentially obtaining an adsorbent by impregnating an adsorbent based on active clay with aqueous solutions of inorganic and/or organic salts of elements selected from a group including at least one of the following: copper, zinc, nickel, silver, tin or manganese, followed by calcination of the adsorbent and isolation of the target fraction of the adsorbent of a given size.
EFFECT: expansion of the range of solutions for preparing modified adsorbents.
