SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment, in particular to devices for orientation of blind people in environment, and can be used for independent movement of blind person in non-deterministic environment. A cane for a visually impaired person has a metal rod with a handle made from dielectric material, as well as an electric circuit-interconnected signalling device and an information processing unit arranged in the area of the handle. In addition, inside the handle there is a power supply and a capacitance meter between the metal rod and the electric power bus of the electronic circuit. A part of the surface of the dielectric handle is coated with a current-conducting coating which is galvanically connected to the electric power bus of the electronic circuit. A tip made of dielectric material is additionally introduced at the lower end of the cane.

EFFECT: obtaining information on the presence of a water obstacle (puddles, liquid mud) without the need to place electronic components on the lower level of the cane and electric cables inside the cane with easier implementation of the folding structure of the cane and higher reliability of the water obstacle sensor.
