FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention generally relates to process additives used in formulations based on polyvinyl chloride (PVC), specifically to a PVC-based component for producing an article with reduced surface gloss, use of a PVC-based component and a method of reducing surface gloss of a PVC-based component. Component includes: a PVC resin and a cross-linking functionalised process additive containing a base polymer, which is functionalised when using from 1 to 25 wt. % reactive epoxy or hydroxyl functional group based on the total weight of the process additive. Component optionally includes at least one impact resistance modifier with a "core-shell" structure, where the PVC-based component exhibits a gloss reduction of at least 5 points as measured at angle of 85 degrees or less, when compared to a similar PVC-based component, in which process additives are non-functionalized. In addition, the cross-linking functionalised process additive has a molecular weight (Mw), which ranges from 50,000 to 15,000,000 g/mol, and part of the functionalised process additive is insoluble in organic solvents, wherein the insoluble fraction is 1 to 90 wt. %, and the PVC resin and the cross-linking functionalised processing additive do not include a cross-linking agent, except for a functional group on the processing additive.
EFFECT: reduction of specular gloss of PVC-based components with preservation of mechanical properties.
