SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of producing resin systems of powder coatings. Disclosed is a method of producing a resin system of an acrylic powder coating, involving polymerisation of at least one acrylic monomer in a non-aqueous solvent in the presence of a hydrophobic submicron particle and an initiator, wherein at least one acrylic monomer has epoxy or acid functionality, and polymerisation of acrylic monomers and hydrophobic submicron particles takes place in dry anhydrous or substantially anhydrous conditions. Invention also discloses a method of producing a powder coating composition using the obtained resin system of an acrylic powder coating and a coating on a metal substrate containing the obtained powder coating composition.
EFFECT: resin systems of powder coatings obtained using the disclosed method enable to obtain top coatings for a transparent layer, which provide improved smoothness, strength and resistance to chemical effects and weather conditions of the hardened powder coating while maintaining good transparency thereof.
