FIELD: petroleum industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for recovery of spent engine oil by loading the oil and a sorbent into a capacitive apparatus in a ratio from 12:1 to 8:1 wt. and stirring, e.g., with an anchor stirrer for at least 1 hour. The sorbent constitutes a NaX zeolite with sodium hydroxide applied on the surface thereof. The ratio of sodium hydroxide to the NaX zeolite is in the range from 1:20 to 1:10 wt. Thus, as sodium hydroxide is consumed, the acid number of the oil is well-reduced, neutralising low-molecular organic acids, and the zeolite dries and concentrates the products of oxidative polymerisation of the components of oil on the surface thereof.

EFFECT: simplified procedure of purification with a high degree thereof.
